Excitement, athleticism, skill and breath-taking atmospheres are promised at the RBS Six Nations every spring.
Each try is invaluable, every player has earned their place in rugby history.
England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales will play their five opponents between the 3rd February and 17th March 2018 at Twickenham, Murrayfield, the Aviva Stadium, Principality Stadium, Stade de France and Stadio Olimpico.
Six Nations history
The oldest and arguably most prestigious competition in the world began in 1883 when just England and Scotland participated. Wales and then Ireland joined, creating The Home Nations.
As France entered, left and re-entered the event, the Home Nations and Five Nations names were interchangeable. After World War II France settled in to the annual routine. In 2000, Italy joined, hence the title of Six Nations.
The first match of the 2018 tournament is France v. Ireland at the Stade de France on 3rd February. Wales v. Scotland is later in the day and the 4th February sees Italy take on England.
On 17th March, Wales take on France, England play Ireland and Italy play Scotland to decide the winners. By the close of the competition the men’s, women’s and under 20’s teams will have played their rivals from the five other countries with varying success.
Will 2018 finally be the year that Italy makes an impact?
